International Seminar “International Humanitarian Law and Urban Warfare Challenges: Experience and Lessons for Ukraine”
The seminar is devoted to topical issues of international humanitarian law related to urban warfare and protecting civilians in armed conflict. It consists of keynote lectures by top specialist as well as of group work during which participants will solve some cases related to urban warfare with experts. In addition, discussion of the recent events in eastern Ukraine in the context of international legal standards regulating the conduct of urban warfare and the role of scholars in spreading knowledge and enhancing standards regulating the conduct of urban warfare in Ukraine will be held.
The well-known Polish and European expert in international humanitarian law, professor of the University of Warsaw Dr. Elżbieta Mikos-Skuza, legal advisor at International Committee of the Red Cross Jan Romer, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be the main experts of the seminar.
The target audiences are the experts in international humanitarian law, representatives of the legal society, scientists and lecturers, interested in the issues of international humanitarian law.
The event will take place in English and Ukrainian, translation from English will not be carried out.

Organizers will reimburse 2nd class tickets of the Inter-city trains or 1st class tickets of the night trains (coupet).
